Eugenio Miozzi – Venice between tradition and renewal 1931-1969
edited by Clemens F. Kusch, Dom Publishers
Although Eugenio Miozzi had a decisive influence on the contemporary image of the city, he is a little-known figure in Venice. Every day, Venetians and visitors are confronted with his works and cross his bridges, in particular: the Ponte della Libertà, the Ponte dell’Accademia, the various bridges over the Rio Nuovo and the exemplary Ponte degli Scalzi. But Eugenio Miozzi has also realised many other buildings and projects in his long career, including the municipal garage at Piazzale Roma and the casino at the Lido, he worked on the restoration of the Fenice opera house, made plans for the redevelopment of the city, planned the extension of the Tronchetto island, designed a trans-lagoon road and conceived a highway from Venice to Munich. All these projects symbolise a constant and tireless effort to combine the centuries-old tradition of Venice with a spirit of innovation that guarantees the survival of the city itself.
