L’8 aprile con una grande cerimonia è stata riaperta, anzi, per la prima volta, l’ala nord di Piazza San Marco. Le Procuratie Vecchie erano state costruite 500 anni fa come residenza ufficiale dei Procuratori, i più stretti collaboratori del Doge. Dal 1832 vi si insediò la compagnia di assicurazioni Generali. Pertanto, l’edificio non fu mai aperto al pubblico. Ora questo è cambiato, perché The Human Safety Net, una fondazione che aiuta i rifugiati a iniziare una nuova esistenza lavorativa, si è trasferita al piano superiore. I suoi locali, affacciati sulla vivace vita di Piazza San Marco, sono aperti al pubblico. Quassù ci sono sale espositive, un auditorium, un caffè e uno spazio per lavorare liberamente e stare insieme. L’iconica facciata, con i suoi 50 archi al piano terra e 100 archi al primo e al secondo piano, iniziata da Bartolomeo Bon e completata da Jacopo Sansovino, definisce il lato nord di Piazza San Marco. Dietro questa uniformità, i progettisti sono rimasti sorpresi di trovare un edificio molto complesso, costituito da strutture nidificate, piccole stanze, scale, atri e accessi. L’originaria struttura verticale aveva lasciato il posto a quella orizzontale con l’insediamento delle Generali, necessario per collegare gli uffici. Gli architetti hanno compreso la complessità dell’edificio e la relativa necessità di vedere il proprio lavoro come un processo, senza troppe idee preconcette o obiettivi. Volevano restare vicini all’edificio e si facevano guidare da tre principi: “riparare, riunificare e adattare”. The Annual Guiding architects Meeting takes place every year in one destination of the worldwide network. It’s a very important chance to meet and discuss together all the results previously achieved, establishing goals for the next years. Budapest was chosen by the members to hold the meeting in 2018 It started on February the 22nd and ended up on February 25th. It was held in Fuga Bupadest Center of Architecture. FUGA’s primary message: architecture is an integral part of culture. By showing contemporary artists’ works from various fields we hope to strengthen the connection between architecture and related arts. It is our aim to make the audience for the arts and culture feel at home at the Budapest Center of Architecture. See you next year in...

Venice was chosen by the members to hold the meeting in 2017 and MOVEnice Team took the opportunity to show its colleagues before and after the core meeting the city highlights and a selection of projects in the Veneto Region.
